My Trinidad trip

I'm too tired to give a full description of the entire trip but it was interesting, fun and met many old acquaintances. Here are a few pics:

My good friends, Richard, Julian, and Ricky. These guys run the gas projects back in Trini ;)

A sweet shot of Southern Trinidad. You can clearly see Point Lisas and San Fernando.

Does anyone know how to write JMS applications?

I feel like I'm going to explode. Just got back from SLC, Utah from portal admin training; many new features learned, and I now have to figure out java, the messaging services and how the heck to connect the pieces to an Oracle db.

Am I up to the challenge? Hell yeah! It's been a good year so far, work related, Oracle db training, .Net training, Luminis 4.0 portal administration and now this. As for the relationship side...a pathetic one.

Anyhow, if you know of a good source, besides Sun's website, drop me a line. "I'm working on a tutorial right now and it feels like I'm trying to discovery and new element or something".

Coldfusion 8 Public Beta is available - oh yeah!

This is exciting. All the documentation and hype sounds really good and hope that Adobe has delivered. I'm installing the application and will begin testing today. Let's take RIA's to a new level!

Results from So Cal Cup at ADT Velodrome

The race was good, 3rd in the keirin and 2nd in the sprints. I was very happy with my performance and hopefully build on this.

Tomorrow is Encino for So Cal Cup #3 and I will be racing both sprints and keirin. I will post images and if lucky, video (depends if I have the video camera).

Off to the track this evening to do openers.

Cheers.

Luminis IV portal installation

This is a new release from Sungard and we are one of the first to do an installation on a Windows platform. For those that are interested in learning more, stay tuned for by technology post for Luminis, Oracle and RIA articles and technology development.

Technology is a b#tch

Great video on the frustration one may experience with using technology.

Cars

I like cars. I like good handling, looks, lines, performance, engine and exhaust sound. My current budget allows me to have a Lancer Evolution IX. I've done a few performance upgrades and according to the dyno, my baby produces 337 WHP. Very nice.

My ambition is to own a Ferrari one day, and if I had the $, I would love to own an Enzo. The video below shows two of my all time favorite.

The islands...

The scary part of this is I understood every word she said. This good stuff, have a look -

In Trinidad, we have a sing-song accent and I've been asked many times when I'm talking to my fellow trinis, what language we speak back home? :) Does not seem like a mystery to me but I guess the speed and broken English usually throw people off.

B-Day Weekend

An interesting weekend with good friends and family. Thanks to Julie, Roshni, Eric, Travis, Dina and Adam for a super fun night at the Brazilian restaurant.

Note to self, alcohol and athletes don't mix :)

My Sunday was pretty quiet, spending it with my special ladies.

So, what's next for me? Well, there are a few things I'll like to do in the coming year and they include the following:
- Become a certified USCF coach
- Get the professional cycling team off the ground
- Enroll in the EdD program at UCI
- Spend more time with my daughter
- Off to Auzzy land in October

I have other small goals that will be accomplished as I go into my 33rd year. Stick around, it will be interesting.

Lightning Velo Cycling Classic

My first race for 2007 was at the Lightning Velo Sprint event. It seems as though everytime this event comes around I'm usually ill. I only rode because my 'good' friend, Travis started to call me names because I was not going to race; I had a fever and pretty much felt like crap.

Anyhow, I did 12.0 in the 200M, a horrible time especially on a 92" gear. My first ride was against some Polish cyclist. That whole race seemed like a big blur but I held my ground. He passed me on the apron and was DQ'ed. A technical victory.

My second ride was against Travis; my friend, training buddy and I consider him a brother. No need to describe the ride, he won. I thought it was my last race but no, I had to ride the 5th - 8th ride. All I wanted was for the day to end. I felt like crap and wanted my bed. I placed 7th, I think.

So, one week later and no training, my venture to the track continues on Saturday 3rd February. Lots of cool projects coming up and more will be posted shortly.

An eventful weekend

What a great weekend! World Cup cycling at the velodrome, my daughter working at the event; very organized and structured I must say, and I made some headway with regards to becoming a USCF official. The experience with working with the UCI officials was more than I could have asked for.

I feel great at the moment, fully recovered and getting back to the basics of work and training.

Video footage will be posted shortly.
